A Freeview TV, box or recorder If you bought your TV after 2010, it will already have Freeview built into it. All you need to do is connect to a working aerial to watch live TV. If you have a Freeview HD TV, you can enjoy up to 15 HD channels.

You do need an aerial to receive Freeview live on TV through the TV Guide but can also view certain channels on internet connected devices without one. The aerial needs to be securely plugged into the socket in the back of your Freeview TV or recorder.

Yes, you will need an internet connection to use the Freeview mobile app, either via wi-fi or your own data allowance. Watching TV shows or films uses around 1GB of internet or mobile data per hour for SD and up to around 3GB per hour for HD.

One of the big draws of Freeview Play is it has integrated access to the major catch-up services: BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4, Demand 5 and UKTV Play. But your Freeview Play box also has access to other apps such as BBC News, BBC Sport, YouTube.
What’s the difference between Freeview and Freeview Plus?
Freeview+ (aka Freeview Plus) has been called “Sky+ for Freeview”. Like any standard Freeview box, Freeview Plus offers up to 48 free-to-air digital TV channels and 24 digital radio stations. Of course, this is a ‘best case’ Freeview scenario.

Do you use now & next on your TV Guide?
Just having the “Now & Next” programmes available seems far to simplistic. Every other set top box or TV guide we’ve used displays a week of, if not more programming information AND the ability to set reminders for programmes we want to watch later in the evening/week.
Do you use now TV or live TV on Your Box?
I realise that you’d rather we use the NOW TV side of the box more than the LIVE TV side, but we like to use both equally, and think the guide for all Live channels (NOW & Freeview) is lettingan otherwise greatly useful bit of kit down greatly. Will we be seeing this improve in near future updates?
