What is a RB30 engine?
What is a RB30 engine?
The Nissan RB30 engine or better known the RB30 Block has been popular for it’s use to increase the displacement capacity of the Nissan Skyline GTR RB26 and RB25 engines to a 3.0 L configuration by use of their DOHC cylinder head. Upon performing the build conversion the block will now be suitable for larger turbo applications.
How to improve the performance of an RB30?
Significant gains on the RB30 can be made from cam upgrades. Altering the cam profile alters the intake and exhaust durations on the engine and can dramatically change the engines power and power output. Fast road cams commonly bump the bhp and torque through the rev band, you could drop a little low down bhp but top end will improve.

What is the difference between an RB26DETT and an RB30DET?
Although it has a larger displacement than the RB26DETT, maximum possible horsepower is less, as the RB30 block lacks the RB26 block’s internal cast-in bracing, and consequently cannot rev as high due to harmonic issues at ~7500 rpm. To compensate, the RB30DET produces more torque at lower revs due to its longer stroke.
