What is Cognex used for?

Cognex® (tacrine hydrochloride capsules) is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate dementia of the Alzheimer’s type.

What is tacrine used for?

Tacrine is used to treat the symptoms of mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease. Tacrine will not cure Alzheimer’s disease, and it will not stop the disease from getting worse. However, tacrine can improve thinking ability in some patients with Alzheimer’s disease.

What if acetylcholinesterase is inhibited?

If acetylcholinesterase activity is inhibited, the synaptic concentration of acetylcholine will remain higher than normal. If this inhibition is irreversible, as in the case of exposure to many nerve gases and some pesticides, sweating, bronchial constriction, convulsions, paralysis, and possibly death can occur.

What happens if acetylcholinesterase is blocked?

The inhibition of the enzyme leads to accumulation of ACh in the synaptic cleft resulting in over-stimulation of nicotinic and muscarinic ACh receptors and impeded neurotransmission. The typical symptoms of acute poisoning are agitation, muscle weakness, muscle fasciculations, miosis, hypersalivation, sweating.

  • mild nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, upset stomach;
  • weight loss;
  • urinating more than usual;
  • agitation, depressed mood;
  • skin rash, increased sweating;
  • fever or chills, runny nose, cough;
  • dizziness, drowsiness, tired feeling;
  • joint or muscle pain; or.

What are side effects of oxazepam?

Oxazepam may cause side effects. Call your doctor if any of the symptoms are severe or do not go away:
